1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?
Hinata Shoyo would definitely be the person he is most bonded with in canon. Throughout canon, Hinata has been there to help Kageyama become a better player and person. He wants to win with Hinata and so he has several times swallowed his pride to ask for help and accept help to be a better setter and teammate. He cares about Hinata and their success together in volleyball.
Kageyama is heavily motivated by his competitive nature to keep up with and surpass Hinata in all things. It keeps him challenging himself in volleyball and the other parts of his life. If he were to be without the people from home completely Hinata would also be the person he misses most. Even if he’s not the best at expressing it that’s his best friend.
2. What are they most afraid of?
Kageyama is most afraid of being left alone on the court. He’s terrified of setting and no one being there to hit his set and being abandoned by his team the way he was in middle school (even though his behavior brought it on). With Karasuno he’s learned to trust his team to be there for him and not play alone but the fear definitely rears it’s head now and then.
The fear is tied up in the grief of his grandfather’s death. His grandfather had been raising him and nurtured Kageyama’s love of volleyball. He died in middle school which exacerbated the difficulty Kageyama had connecting to his teammates and contributed to the way he would lose his temper and say mean things which led to the chasm opening between him and the team.
3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?
Kageyama struggles to show his emotions and articulate his thoughts which is both an emotional and mental weakness. He doesn’t understand people easily, nor is he understood easily. He speaks very bluntly and honestly which leads to a lot of hurt feelings and even misunderstandings as other people don’t always communicate the same way.
Physically, his weakness is that he often pushes his body to the limits.
4. What would make them happiest?
Kageyama’s current biggest desire is to win nationals with Karasuno. It hurt a lot to not win with his team as a 1st year and that now it’s a new team without the 3rd years they had. So it won’t be the exact same but he doesn’t want to feel the pain of that loss again and wants to go all the way. He’d be the happiest able to win with his team.
Winning with Hinata would also make all the growing pains they went through together really become worth it.
5. What’s their type for a lover?
Kageyama’s type would definitely be someone who can challenge him and see past his exterior. He’s a difficult person so in love or any kind of relationship he needs someone patient and not easily discouraged when he’s distant or seemingly cold.
